TAVLI & CHECKERS
If you feel like passing time the way many old-fashioned Greeks still do, there’s a board in the apartment that flips between two classics: Tavli (Τάβλι) and checkers.
Tavli is the Greek name for backgammon. It’s part game, part social ritual - you’ll see it played in cafes all over the country, often with coffee, loud opinions and lots of laughter.
Checkers is simpler, but still a satisfying way to pass time.
